HALCYON X SPACE YACHT “ENCHANTED SHOWCASE” RECAP – [READ]

Last weekend, Halcyon and Space Yacht combined creative forces once more for their “Enchanted Showcase.” The futuristic show featured interactive stages and ID-packed sets from the label’s diverse roster.

This virtual event was a follow-up to the greatly-successful Yakz and Cookie Monsta fundraising Twitch stream, which amassed 150,000+ viewers and a prestigious front page feature. Rather than presenting the sets in a physical realm, Halcyon and Space Yacht orchestrated the show through augmented reality spaces, which allowed fans to interact with the stages in real-time.

HALCYON SPACE YACHT AR STAGES

Whereas the first livestream centered on the sound house’s debut compilation, “Enchanted Showcase” brought forth a different palette of sounds. Both new faces and label mainstays graced the digital stages. Automhate kicked the night off with his groove-infused bass tunes, followed by a first-ever Aweminus and Oolacile B2B. The dynamic duo pleasantly surprised viewers when they set the mood with infectious house beats, gradually building energy and segueing into riddim tunes.

Young talent and label debutante, qwaston, kept the speakers pumping with an off-the-walls dubstep and hyperpop mix, bridging a gap between the two eccentric musical styles. MAD DUBZ followed suit with a bass-laden set that seamlessly transitioned from heavy dubstep to ethereal future riddim. Additionally, NUU$HI capped the 4-hour spectacle off by sharing his complex compositions with the masses. The emerging Japanese talent made waves with several uplifting unreleased tracks and engaging stage presence.

The showcase proved, once more, that Halcyon is at the forefront of electronic music. The soundhouse and its artists have fostered a grassroots movement that continues to push the envelope and redefine the “rules” of dubstep. Fans of the vibrant tunes and visuals were not the only beneficiaries of the magical event — Halcyon donated the money earned from the livestream to AAPI (Asian American and Pacific Islander) organizations in order to combat racism and support the marginalized communities affected.
