DISCO DONNIE FACES BACKLASH OVER MOVING FORWARD WITH APRIL UBBI DUBBI FESTIVAL – [READ]

As Ubbi Dubbi plans to move forward with its April festival dates, fans are demanding Disco Donnie be held accountable for the potential risks surrounding the decision.

Ubbi Dubbi is one of the few music festivals bold enough to either make its return or debut as soon as this month. The organizer, Disco Donnie Presents has unsurprisingly been taking heat from members of the EDM community. Disco Donnie himself has faced personal attacks on Twitter within the past week.

Donnie doesn’t seem to let the negative feedback bother him, though. One Twitter user called him “immature” for the way he has been handling his communication regarding the pandemic with fans via the app. His take? Authenticity.

But it’s not just his attitude that’s rubbing people the wrong way. Some members of the community are extremely concerned with the health and safety measures being taken by DDP, or lack thereof. The same user is pushing the community to hold Disco Donnie accountable for the potential dangers of throwing a festival, which they believe is directly disregarding the wellbeing of the community.

It’s unclear where the line rests between what can be considered safe and dangerous during this period of time. Disco Donnie continually reminds fans that Texas is rolling out vaccines on a large scale and that additional safety measures regarding the Clear Health Pass will be disclosed shortly. However, many still feel that it’s too soon to organize mass gatherings, especially in the capacity of a music festival.

Another user called Disco Donnie out for being unclear about the precautions being put in place for the festival. People are eager to learn the details of these so-called safety measures that the organizer keeps bringing up. Although DDP promises more updates are coming soon, people are reasonably getting anxious to learn details, given the festival is scheduled to take place in less than a month.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
