NERO DROPS TWO REMIXES IN A WEEK AFTER YEARS OF SILENCE – [LISTEN]
After a long hiatus, Nero has returned to the electronic music scene with a stirring edit of Daft Punk’s “Emotion” followed by a rework of Tame Impala’s “Disciples.”
It’s been two years since Nero introduced new music, with their last release being “Lullaby” on Astralwerks. Before that, it had been three years. Now, within just a week, the group put out their edit of Daft Punk’s tune, followed by a rework of Tame Impala’s “Disciples,” with tease of more to come.

More than fifteen years ago, Daft Punk released “Emotion,” the final track on their ‘Human After All’ album, captivating a massive global audience. Although after nearly three decades Daft Punk is no more, their impact will undoubtedly live on forever. Fast forward to this week, when another legendary industry force did just that, offering a fresh take on “Emotion.”
In their “Emotion” rework, Nero adds an overwhelmingly melodic layer to the classic tune, allowing listeners to revisit that feel-good mindset while elevating the overall experience. Although there is quite a bit of evidence of rhythm and synth reworking, the song remains pretty consistent with the original in the mood it creates.
In case anyone has forgotten, “Emotion” is a seven-minute journey through a whirlwind of—for lack of a better term—emotion. Nero uses all seven minutes to showcase their highly distinct production style, which they’ve stood by since the group’s inception in 2004. Songs like “Innocence” and “Promises” (the Skrillex and Nero remix, of course), really helped define who Nero is and what fans have come to expect from the trio throughout the years.
On the other hand, Nero’s version of Tame Impala’s psychedelic melody “Disciples” may sound familiar. According to their tweet, the edit is something they’ve been playing out in shows for years, and it’s certainly something we hope they play again.
