1788-L TEASES FUTURE ENDEAVOR WITH MATRIX REBOOT PAGE – [READ]

MYSTERY DJ EMERGES FROM HIATUS

Although the man/woman behind the alias remains unknown, the music does not. Enigmatic DJ 1788-L has toured and collaborated with hot shot artists such as REZZ, The Glitch Mob, Kayzo, ILLENIUM, and many others, attracting some serious attention in the space of electronic music. After a brief intermission of radio silence, 1788-L teases at the promise of something, anything, on the horizon.

On March 23rd, 1788-L took to Twitter to post a cryptic message, a link to a reboot page. Upon clicking the URL, the viewer is directed to a matrix, instructed to input their email address and then taken to a blank page requesting command entries. The viewer is left with little to no information regarding the purpose of the page, what’s to come via the mailing list, any future music releases, tours, or, least of all, identity tips.

1788-L is best known for his/her unique style, a combination of techno and dubstep with some fully incorporated house-esque beat loops – it’s both edgy and catchy, interesting and dynamic. And although it is never our aim to proliferate rumors or canards, discussions of identity, or cracking the conundrum, remain at the forefront of conversations when it comes to 1788-L. There are a few loose links to Bassnectar and REZZ – for Bass Nectar, the uncanny web of hair and unnerving boldness of cadence, and for REZZ, the fluidity and ease of experimentation. Beyond those two names, it’s hard to assuage an argument regarding identity or come to any conclusions – the internet has also pointed out the possibility of multiple producers rather than just one.

No matter your thoughts on the above enigma or your take on the matrix page recently released, one thing is for certain: 1788-L is an artist to watch.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.

What's your reaction?
