NEVER SAY DIE DISCONTINUES LEGENDARY “BLACK LABEL” IMPRINT – [READ]
Last week, Never Say Die Records ceased its acclaimed Black Label imprint after a successful 7-year run. The specialized label ignited several underground dubstep producers’ careers, and served as a platform for undiscovered talent.
Even though the label unleashed some of its most groundbreaking material during the past year, the decision to pull the plug originated from a creatively-driven place. In a social media letter, the label explains that NSD: Black Label started out as a compilation, which showcased underground styles of dubstep like riddim and tearout.

Initially, the main label received more melodic submissions, while Black Label boasted heavier releases. Over the years, bass producers crafted sounds that pushed the genre’s envelope and blurred the lines between styles — resulting in both imprints receiving tunes that fit the other’s vision more closely. In order to address this issue, the label decided it was best to move forward as one entity.
The change is bittersweet due to Black Label’s immeasurable impact on the heavy bass music scene and its icons. Black Label allowed: Aweminus, SVDDEN DEATH, Phiso, Trampa, Marauda (f.k.a Mastadon) and many more, to share their unique music with millions. Never Say Die will continue to curate and promote cutting-edge music and talent, but this time they’ll do so from beneath a “single umbrella.”

We find solace in the fact that Trampa kicked off Black Label’s first release, and is now spearheading its very last. “Sick Head” is the tearout legend’s latest release, and its raw energy perfectly encompasses everything the label stands for.
Black Label bows out with a bang, leaving behind a legacy of trailblazing, passion and resilience. Thank you for everything Black Label, we look forward to the future of Never Say Die.
