ZEDS DEAD INTRODUCES SECOND LABEL ALTERED STATES ON THE FIFTH ANNIVERSARY OF DEADBEATS – [READ]

Zeds Dead introduces a second label dubbed Altered States Records focused on releasing downtempo and experimental electronic music.

Zeds Dead has just announced the launch of their brand new label called Altered States. This announcement comes just after Dylan Mamid (DC) and Zachary Rapp-Rovan (Hooks) celebrate the 5th year anniversary of their popular Deadbeats label.

First established March 1, 2016 Deadbeats has accumulated over 400+ tracks released so far. Check out the full discography in the playlist below.

From dubstep to drum & bass to house, Zeds dead has never pigeonholed themselves or their label into a singular style. With the birth of the Altered States label, the duo has created a space for the exploration and flourishing of more diverse experimental electronic music.

Zeds Dead broke the news on IG explaining, “We are starting a new side label called Altered States. We wanted to open the door to a world branching off of Deadbeats. One where we explore sounds that take you into a different space, one of dreams and other altered states of consciousness.”

First debuting on the Altered States label is a new original mixtape from none other than DC and Hooks themselves called Catching Z’s. The full mixtape consist of 13 new downtempo tracks dropping on March 26th with its first track out Friday (3/5).

DC and Hooks are the modern day pioneers of electronic music. Their ability to lean into any genre allows Zeds Dead to cater to a wide range of fans while introducing them to new music avenues. With talents perfectly balancing one another, the two constantly push the boundaries creating genre-defying music.

With the absence of live events due to the pandemic, it is showing interesting opportunity for artists to delve into other projects. Without the option of live shows artists are forced to think about their music differently based on the listener’s experience.

In this current social climate, perhaps it is the perfect time for experimental bass to rise. Stay tuned for the Catching Z’s mixtape and more releases on Altered States Records.

An Atlanta gal chasing her love for electronic dance music. I’ve been with Exron since 2018 and have the privilege of contributing to the culture alongside other badass women whom I now call my friends. My introduction to the scene was first influenced by trap music, but my discography has since expanded to touch a bit of everything. Some of my favorite artists are Zeds Dead, Cloonee, Nghtmre, Flume, Infekt, Sosa, Bleu Clair, Subtronics, but the list goes on forever.
