INSOMNIAC FACES NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FROM FANS AFTER ANNOUNCING NEW FESTIVAL IN FLORIDA – [READ]

Insomniac recently announced Abduction, a festival set to take place in Florida, which sparked significant criticism from fans due to COVID-19 health concerns.

Just as the news that Miami’s Ultra Music Festival would be canceled (again) broke, Insomniac jumped in with plans to bring an entirely new festival to Florida. The events company recently announced that the festival is coming to Orlando, Florida, on April 10, 2021.

Ultra is just one of the multiple festivals rescheduled for 2021 that are beginning to get canceled and postponed for a second time around. In one way, it’s starting to feel like March 2020 all over again, but at the same time, Insomniac has shocked fans with a major festival announcement that’s less than two months away.

Although most fans and many Florida residents have expressed positive feedback regarding Insomniac’s festival announcement, quite a few have expressed extreme disapproval of the event. Some are even calling on Floridians to boycott the event.

Abduction is a result of Insomniac’s ongoing efforts to expand their grasp on the East Coast dance music scene. In 2020, Insomniac East acquired major venues, including Miami’s Club Space and Washington D.C.’s Soundcheck and Echostage. The Abduction lineup features artists from various genres, like house and dubstep.

The one-day festival will take place in Lot 54 at The Vanguard. Although Pasquale reassures fans that his team at Insomniac is prioritizing attendees’ health and safety, some still have an issue with the events company planning to host a festival so soon.

As far as Insomniac’s renowned EDC Las Vegas and Beyond Wonderland, the events are still scheduled for their respective May and June dates. In a recent update posted by Pasquale via Instagram comment, Insomniac is planning for those two festivals to take place.

“I know a lot of you are looking for an EDCLV update, so yes, we’re continuing to plan EDC Las Vegas & Beyond Wonderland for their scheduled dates,” Pasquale comments. “There continues to be new developments & we’re in constant communication with local officials. If things change, however, we have backup dates in place & I’ll let you know soon.”

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
