“PADDY’S DAY LOCKDOWN RAVE” ORGANIZED FOR 5K DESPITE LOCKDOWN MANDATES IN IRELAND – [READ]

Illicit rave organizers in Ireland are planning a 5,000 person St. Patrick’s Day event in the Dublin area.

Despite the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic, “secret” organizers in Ireland are organizing a techno/house rave for St. Patrick’s Day in a 5,000 person capacity warehouse. According to the Irish government website, NO organized indoor gatherings of any size are allowed to take place.

Organizers of the lockdown rave have created an array of social media accounts on Instagram and Snapchat, making chains of new accounts to avoid being “ratted” out. They posted a cryptic message stating ,”Who’s sick of lockdown? Wednesday the 17th of March paddys day lockdown rave will take place in an undisclosed location in the dublin/kildare area. 12 hours before the event starts the location will be revealed”.

The illicit event is slated to start at 3pm and finish early the next morning. Tickets are going for €20 a pop, which can be purchased through the organizer’s PayPal account. Organizers will then confirm payment and identification and attendees will be added to a WhatsApp messaging group.

This WhatsApp group is where the location of the event will be disclosed the day of the event. Organizers of the illegal event have had to make various PayPal accounts as to lower their chances of being caught.

Organizers have said no “big” names have been booked, but that a few “good” ones have been secured for the event. The organizers took to social media to call out “rats”, and even called the COVID-19 pandemic a “hoax”. At €20 a ticket, and a possible 5,000 person attendance, organizers of the Paddy’s Day rave could see a €100,000 pay day before operational costs.

Despite Ireland having 835 new cases just yesterday, February 18th, organizers are unabashedly continuing to publicize and promote the illegal event. According to an Irish Times article, organizers of the event could face fines of €1,000 and upwards, and even between one and six months in prison.

Although we all yearn to get back to raving, being safe and abiding to public health mandates will only get us closer to getting back to what we know and love.
