INSOMNIAC EVENTS TAKES OVER THE EAST COAST – [READ]

Despite the looming pandemic putting pressure on the live music industry, Insomniac Events has been busy expanding its reach throughout the East Coast with the launch of their Insomniac East division.

Last summer, Insomniac made the bold move to announce itself as a stakeholder in Miami’s most sought-after music venue, Club Space. Then in October, Pasquale Rotella’s events company made a monumental acquisition of Club Glow, taking over Washington, D.C.’s iconic Soundcheck and 34,000-square-foot Echostage venues. The company is already behind Florida-based Okeechobee Music Festival and III Points Music Festival.

Insomniac has also recently acquired The Vanguard in Orlando, which is currently hosting reduced capacity, mask-required events. This coming weekend, Diplo will headline the venue with support from Acraze and Prankstisci, among others. As the month progresses, the venue will host Solardo, John Summit, Cash Cash, and their supporting artists.

In the same city is Insomniac’s flagship East Coast festival, EDC Orlando, which will celebrate its 10-year anniversary on November 12-14, 2021. The 2020 edition of the festival was canceled before a lineup was ever shared.

Plus, after announcing its massive partnership with Boca Raton’s Forbidden Kingdom Music Festival, it’s become crystal clear that Insomniac has a thriving interest in the East Coast festival scene. Forbidden Kingdom is scheduled to take place on June 11-12, 2021, at Sunset Cove Amphitheater. These exciting new alliances come with heavy speculation that Insomniac will bring even more festivals to the Miami area in 2022.

Although the company has evidently been focusing on Florida, perhaps due to the lax venue restrictions, this momentum could move further up the East Coast. New York City has a massive market for the electronic music industry and a wealth of venues that have severely suffered due to Covid-19 restrictions. It’s possible that Rotella’s company may be looking at purchasing spaces or even introducing another festival to the region since EDC New York had its final run in 2017.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
