OLIVER HELDENS RELEASES MUCH-ANTICIPATED REMIX OF ABOVE AND BEYOND’S TRANCE CLASSIC -[LISTEN]
To kickstart 2021 off, acclaimed future-house DJ and producer Oliver Heldens releases his remix for Above & Beyond’s trance classic “Thing Called Love”.
As someone who is no newcomer to the scene, Oliver Heldens displays what has made him so successful with this release. He’s garnered almost 10 million monthly listeners and has headlined the biggest festivals in the world. He broke onto the scene in 2014 with his hit song, “Gecko (Overdrive) that launched him into stardom for his unique style of house now called future house.
His attention from that time has allowed him to collaborate with other stars in the scene like Tiesto, Nile Rodgers, and Sander Van Doorn and be tapped for remixes of icons such as Katy Perry, Calvin Harris, and Justin Timberlake, just to name a few.
Heldens’s amassed fame allowed him to establish a record label that served as a platform for new producers of electronic music. Heldeep Records launched six years ago and recently developed a subdivision titled OH2 Records, which aims to focus on the blend of electronic and pop music.
Above & Beyond is a dance music trio comprised of Jono Grant, Tony McGuinness, and Paavo Siljamäki that formed 20 years ago at the University of Westminster. As the group searched for a way to release music they decided to do it themselves under the label name, Anjunabeats. Since 2001, the label has continued to grow and has developed a strong roster that features Moby, Matt Zo, and Andrew Bayer.
The original track, “Thing Called Love” just hit 20 years of bringing joy to listeners, which is commemorated by an accompanying list of remixes. This particular remix was first teased last September during A&B’s Group Therapy 400 live stream and has kept fans of the artist excited for its official release.
This new take on the track brings me back to the wonderful era of 2000’s trance that has a clear splash of Heldens’s signature future house sound. Released on Above and Beyond’s Anjunabeats, listeners can find the track as part of the duo’s 20 Years of Anjunabeats collection here.
