SNAILS took to Twitter with a lengthy yet cryptic Tweet to deny any allegations made against him of sexual assault or using force on others to take drugs. The adamant denial was posted by bass and dubstep megastar SNAILS on Twitter yesterday, January 5th, yet Twitter has been the origin of most public speculation regarding the DJ’s pattern of unwanted sexual advances. One woman posted “I was partying with him last year at a fest, and he was making unwanted sexual advances on my friends and his crew and kept trying to get them to drink out of a bottle that they thought was drugged.” Other women have created a coalition to accuse SNAILS, including an Instagram page dedicated to the issue.
Although there have been no official charges brought against SNAILS, this is not his first encounter with women of the EDM community accusing the musician of related behavior. Some supporters of SNAILS have coined the term “Datsik treatment” to describe his situation; a reference to a similar situation where Datsik was accused of criminal sexual assault by women on Twitter. There have been no legal charges, no testimonies, and no convictions.
SNAILS has expressed his sympathy and his understanding of the trauma victims of sexual assault endure and was sure to include these sentiments in his statement on Twitter. “I stand by any victim of sexual assault, harassment, or abuse of any kind. Those experiences deserve to be heard. Victims deserve to be protected and defended. That being said, none of my actions fall into this category.”
