INSOMNIAC EVENTS STUNS FANS WITH ELECTRIC MILE DRIVE-THRU EXPERIENCE – [EVENT RECAP]

Insomniac Events’ first-ever drive-thru experience Electric Mile kicked off earlier this weekend at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, California. A highly anticipated event, the immersive hour-long audiovisual experience takes Headliners of all ages on a nighttime car ride journey through 7 unique worlds, such as the brand’s colorful L.A. beginnings, its many beloved SoCal festivals, and EDC Las Vegas.

Held at what is usually a horse racing track by day, the expansive space in which it was held was extremely impressive, with every nook and cranny being used by Insomniac. As you drive in, you’re prompted to turn your radio to 88.3 FM, which features Pasquale Rotella, Insomniac’s founder, describing his company, its festivals, and what to expect for the next hour. As you wait in line, you can scan QR codes on nearby poles to place a snack order, which you conveniently drive through to pick up before entering the event itself.

Once inside you’re told to switch stations to 107.9 FM, which is synchronized to the event’s production and soundtracked by some of EDM’s finest tastemakers. A giant rainbow reading “Insomniac’s Electric Mile” greets all those who enter, along with a giant light-up raver holding a vintage ‘90’s rave flyer. You’re then taken into an O.G. Los Angeles warehouse rave, reminiscent of Insomniac’s early days and harkening back to its 1993 roots.

Nocturnal Wonderland is up next, and features backlit props alongside dancing neon bear mascots. All the trippy goodness that’s been present at one of Insomniac’s longest-running festivals is here in full-force, making one feel almost as if they were right back at the forested rave haven of Glen Helen Regional Park.

The following Beyond Wonderland section takes attendees through an Alice in Wonderland-esque world of wonder, and boasts larger-than-life lighting, a giant caterpillar with the phrase “Who Are You?”, multicolored light up mushrooms, and Kaskade and Deadmau5‘s 2008 hit “I Remember“. This funnels you right into the circus-themed Escape Halloween area, which has dancing skeletons, a terrifying ringleader, and Swedish House Mafia’s “Don’t You Worry Child” blasting.

Insomniac’s New Year’s festival, Countdown, is one of the event’s more quirkier areas, and boasts several dancing aliens in addition to light-up UFOs and some Porter Robinson sonic goodness. Electric Daisy Carnival is the last themed area, which immediately features Above & Beyond‘s “Sun & Moon“, 2019’s 360-degree Pixel Forest LED light tunnel installation, the famed Rainbow Road, and lastly, EDC Las Vegas’ 2014 Kinetic Cathedral design. Deadmau5’s “The Veldt” plays as you leave under the pillars, stage, and statues, which is ultimately a stellar song choice to top off this once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Visitors are then driven down ‘Thank You Road’ and the merchandise pick-up area, which works the same as the QR code snack pickup situation at the event’s beginning. In all, Electric Mile serves as a perfect way to get back into the rave spirit in 2021, and is also a great way to introduce younger generations (and friends not in-the-know!) to the colorful world of EDM. From start to finish, it was wonderfully executed by all at Insomniac Events.
