If there’s one thing 2020 provided, it was time for your favorite artists to return to the studio and make some magic happen. Without live performances, musicians were able to go back to their roots and create new singles and albums that truly reflected their love for dance tunes. Although life hit the world hard in 2020, we were blessed with a plethora of beautiful songs that helped guide us through uncharted waters. Let’s take a recap back on the best electronic dance music albums of 2020 before we head full throttle in 2021.

10. Sable Valley Summer Vol. 1

RL Grime has spent the past ten years causing jaws to drop worldwide, as he continues to lead and dominate the trap and bass industry. Paving the way for thousands of other eager producers, Henry Alfred Steinway has an unmatched talent for innovation and creativity. The ‘Sable Valley Summer Volume 1’, although not entirely from RL Grime himself, is an album filled with incredible talent, chosen by the esteemed artist, who on the straight and narrow to über success. This compilation starts us off with number 10!

9. Disclosure- Energy

Disclosure’s ‘Energy’ received a well-deserved Grammy nomination, the experimental house meets R&B tracks are evolutionary for the electronic industry. The producer duo built the suspense for this album to a massive proportion, as they spread out the precursor singles over the span of almost the entire year. Following a 5-year hiatus prior, Disclosure pulled out all the stops for this creation. Energy hits our number 9 spot!

8. Tchami- Year Zero

The world waited on pins and needles for Tchami to release new music after taking a break from touring for the first time in years. The product was well worth the wait, as the french tech-house producer stunned his fans with Year Zero. A beautiful masterpiece that shows a softer side of the heavenly father, the 14-track album evokes pure joy, and includes some pretty outstanding collaborations. Congratulations for the number 8 spot Tchami!

7. Kill Paris- House With A Pool

Kill Paris is one impressive producer, who takes pride in thinking out of the box when composing his eccentric bass creations. Formally known as Corey Baker, this artist has taken the time and energy to perfect his craft, and it shows. ‘House With A Pool’ was an album created during the quarantine, quite literally in a studio in a house with a pool, and there is no more an accurate description for this collection of tunes. A tropical but funky bass masterpiece, ‘House With A Pool’ hits our list at number 7.

6.Bob Moses- Desire

Bob Moses have solidified their spot in the indie dance scene, with a landscape of beats that match ethereal lyrics in a divine composition. With dreamy vocals and a couple of prime collaborations with Zhu, the ‘Desire’ album fills all your deepest wishes with even just one listen. Congratulations to Bob Moses for hitting the number 6 spot on our top albums this year.

5. Griz- Chasing The Golden Hour Part 3

GRiZ is simply a beacon of light in a 2020 world of darkness. The incredibly talented producer has cranked out an impressive amount of music this year, including the third installment of his ‘The Golden Hour’ series. With 10 tracks that warm the heart and instantly brighten your day, this album ranks in at number 5 on our list.

4. Bronson- Bronson

Since the release of Odesza’s ‘A Moment Apart’ album in 2018, fans patiently waited for their epic return. The boys did not disappoint as they came back with a brand new compilation with long-time friend Golden Features. The iconic supergroup astounded the world when they debuted the 10-track album that puts all other future bass creations to shame. The ‘Bronson’ namesake album hits our list at number 4.

3. Big Gigantic- Free Your Mind

Big Gigantic’s Free Your Mind came as a fresh breath of air in Spring of this year, with a funky jazz feeling that provides an energetic feel. With a chill bass vibe throughout and trap vocals adding flavor, this album is sure to brighten your mood under any circumstance. Big Gigantic never fails to impress us with their groovy tunes, and this year their album rings in as our number 3 album of the year.

2. Kasbo- The Making of a Paracosm

Kasbo released his sophomore album in October of 2020 on Foreign Family Collective. The album itself is an emotional journey that enlightens the senses in wonder and delight. When listening it is clear the work and love that Carl Garsbo puts into his craft, and the result is a powerful collection of songs that present a wide range of feeling. The indie-electronic masterpiece ‘The Making of a Paracosm’ ranks in at our number 2 spot.

1. CloZee- Neon Jungle

CloZee’s music offers a serenity that is otherwise hard to come by, with a fantastic funky bass theme complimented with her signature jungle flair. This French composer released her Neon Jungle album in June, when the Covid pandemic was raging across the world. Her music created a solace for thousands, with unmatched production talent and flawless musical composition that soothed the soul. CloZee wins our number one spot on this year’s top albums. Congrats Chloé!
