EXRON MUSIC’S TOP 5 REPOPULATE MARS RELEASES OF 2020 – [LISTEN]

Lee Foss’ renowned Repopulate Mars imprint has been on a consistent roll so far this new decade, with insanely good tech-house heaters dropped every single month of 2020. Based on the Los Angeles-based talent’s raucous party series, the label was launched in 2016 by Foss in an effort to showcase producers who sonically fit into his otherworldly mold. Immersive, intergalactic themed space vibes always await partygoers at each of the events, a unique, funky quality that the label head ensures is effortlessly conveyed in each of his imprint’s releases, as well.

Standout acts so far this year include burgeoning Chicago artist John Summit, in addition to several exciting features from revered L.A.-based singer/songwriter Anabel Englund.

Check out a few of the proper rinsers below!

1.) “Warm Disco” – Lee Foss & Anabel Englund

Kicking things off, “Warm Disco” starts the list at #1. A feelgood summer hit, this four-on-the-floor gem is a driving tech-house masterpiece that’s made complete with Englund‘s sonorous vocal ability. Rolling basslines, a percussive beat, and an infectious rhythm characterize much of the sprightly release, with a propulsive energy maintained throughout the tune’s entirety. Since release, it’s garnered over 1.4 million combined streams across all platforms, a highly impressive feat. The accompanying music video, featuring creative direction from Foss’ girlfriend Chloë Holmes, truly brings the track to life, and has loads of trippy, colorful imagery. Check it out below!

2.) “Forgotten One” – John Summit

Next up is John Summit’s “Forgotten One“, a true romp of a tune that really takes the listener on a rollercoaster of sound. Hard-hitting bass immediately starts off the four-minute musical endeavor, quickly accompanied by a rich, textured vocal cut. Heady in nature, this atmospheric offering is an enticingly groovy sonic treasure, and is, at its core, a quintessential dancefloor warmer.

3.) “Summertime Chi” – Lee Foss & John Summit featuring Hayley May

Summertime Chi” comes in at #3, and marks the most recent Repopulate Mars release on this list. Both Chicago natives, this anthemic tech-house opus audibly showcases all the euphoric feelings one gets when in the Chi during the best season ever. London-based singer/songwriter Hayley May shines here, with her mellifluous vocal making the driving release feel very personal. Since it was dropped in late August, it’s received over 52.1K total streams across all platforms, and even got the music video treatment. Also directed by Foss’ girlfriend Holmes, it features a couple doing various activities together in the beautiful Chicago summertime. Make sure to watch it below!

4.) “Dreams” – John Summit & Dead Space

Dreams” is a high-octane single that features Orlando native and DJ/producer Dead Space alongside Summit. The tune was released as part of the VA compilation album Repopulate Stars – Summer Jams at the end of this September, and is a tech-house rework of Louis La Roche‘s 2016 hit “Dream Come True“. An R&B-inspired vocal flawlessly evokes a sense of the 1990s, and is joined alongside a propelling beat that carries throughout the track’s approximately six-minute runtime. Overall, this is another great addition to Summit’s evolving back-catalog, and also serves as another prime addition to Dead Space’s.

5.) “Touch Me With Your Mind” – Kristi Yang featuring Ms. Chin

Touch Me With Your Mind” finishes the list, an exciting new tune from rising talent Kristi Yang. It features a wonderfully-executed vocal performance from Lauren Nicole Chin, who lends an ethereally beautiful vibe to the track. A propelling beat and infectiously groovy rhythm are hallmarks of the single, in turn producing a magnificent tech-house single that’s sure to have you on your feet in no time at all.

Keeping busy on the livestream front, Lee Foss and John Summit both performed exhilarating sets, in addition to a back-to-back set, for Insomniac TV at the tail end of this August. Make sure to check out all three below!
