ZEDD OPENS UP ON REDDIT: COLLABS WITH PORTER ROBINSON, COVID & A THIRD ALBUM

Zedd stepped onto the virtual stage in his first “Ask me Anything” (AMA) on Reddit. Fans were eager to ask questions about the rumored collaboration with Porter Robinson, the delay of a confirmed project with Matt Bellamy, the difficulties of COVID, and his long-anticipated 3^rd album.

Zedd had previously worked with Porter Robinson before, crediting Robinson with helping out on the production of his hit single “Clarity – (ft. Foxes)” released in 2012 and traveling on their Back to Back tour the same year. With talk of Robinson appearing as a featured artist on Zedd’s upcoming 3rd album, fans were undoubtedly excited to ask about the rumored collaboration. “Porter and I have recently talked about getting together and working on some music” Zedd revealed. “We grew up in this scene together, it would probably be really special.”

Collaborations were a frequent topic, as fans were interested in the project Zedd had announced 2 years ago with Matt Bellamy of Muse that never came to fruition. Zedd quelled the worries of the Reddit commenters and claimed he was “confident that Matt Bellamy and I will eventually make a song together.” Sharing a mutual appreciation for each other’s style and talent, the first attempt at a collaborative track between the two resulted in a mutual agreement that the song was “not the best it could be.” Zedd is eager to work with Bellamy again, and claims they both share the same dedication for quality work. “We both want to do it RIGHT.”

Opening up to personal struggles during COVID, Zedd was candid about his increased states of depression during quarantine and identifies his state of mind as the reason behind the delay of his 3rd album. “I certainly can say I have felt depressed more than ever before in my life” Zedd admits. But not to worry; Zedd promises new music on the way. “…when there is a rough idea of when clubs etc may re-open and the pandemic is under control, I’m going to shift back gears into album mode!”
