“The Turn Up” is a bold representation of Onderkoffer’s broad range of production capabilities. The tune leads in with cinematic melodies before exploding into a massive drop and signature Onderkoffer Moombahton switch. He even incorporates a Kanye West-inspired outro to round out the track.

“This track, with a break inspired by Hans Zimmer and outro reminiscent of Kanye West,  has a contrasting sound which really showcases the diverse music I’ve been able to combine in my work,” says Onderkoffer. “I’m very proud of this one!”

Onderkoffer already made his mark on the industry, garnering millions of streams on his tracks from across the globe. The platinum artist boasts an addictive yet diverse sound and has enjoyed support from industry frontrunners, including Martin Garrix, Diplo, David Guetta, and more. Onderkoffer has released on the famous Spinnin’ Records and played shows throughout Europe, Asia, and even Polynesia, spreading his EDM/Moombahton sound far and wide.

Upon the release of his new banger, “The Turn Up”, we got the chance to discuss everything from quarantine to song inspiration with Onderkoffer.

Exron Music: How has quarantine been treating your creative process?

Onderkoffer: I’ve actually told this to lots of people but in a way I see quarantine as a blessing because I’ve never been as creative as I am now and I’ve never dropped so many tracks in a short period of time. The lack of shows motivated me even more to work harder and gave me more time to concentrate on my music.

Exron Music: Are you planning on dropping any big remixes anytime soon?

Onderkoffer: There’s a massive DMX Remix on the way and another 50 Cent Remix in the making, stay tuned…

Exron Music: How did you come up with your new song “The Turn Up”?

Onderkoffer: Normally when producing I start with the drop but this time I started with the break after listening to a lot of Hans Zimmer. I wanted to make an epic, almost ‘space’-themed break with massive chords that resolve in a hard, aggressive Trap drop. To have even more contrasts, I decided to give the drop a Moombahton switch and even a Psytrance switch for the second drop. I wanted this track to represent what Onderkoffer stands for: a combination different genres, sounds and contrasts that sound as one.

Exron Music: What are you looking forward to most once Covid-19 is behind us?

Onderkoffer: Definitely shows. Making music is awesome, but to see how the crowd react to that same music… priceless.

Exron Music: What brought you to make BrednButter the home to another one of your tracks?

Onderkoffer: Brednbutter is definitely my go-to label for my Trapbeats. We have good relationship and long history and every release we do goes without any problems whatsoever. It definitely feels like ‘home’ for my music.

Exron Music: Are you working on any exciting collabs at the moment?

Onderkoffer: A few I wanna keep a secret until I can announce it but one of them is a massive collaboration with Arman Cekin, also a household name of Trap City.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
