WOMEN DOMINATE DJ MAG ALTERNATIVE TOP 100 DJ LIST WITH CHARLOTTE DE WITTE AT #1

Every year the dance music scene anxiously anticipates the release of DJ Mag’s Top 100 list. In the past three years, DJ Mag has joined forces with Beatport to deliver the ‘DJ Mag Alternative Top 100’ list to show recognition to some of the top house and techno acts around the globe. The list pulls data from the DJ Mag polls in addition to house/techno purchases on Beatport to compile the list. This list reflects more house and techno acts whereas the main DJ Mag Top 100 list includes more mainstream EDM and trance acts. We are so excited to announce that five extraordinary women have earned spots in the Top 10. Check out the female producers in the Top 1o below.

Russian techno queen Nina Kraviz is known across the world for her infectious energy on stage and tantalizing catalog.  Arguably one of the most prominent females in the techno genre, Nina has remained quite busy with her трип (Trip) imprint this year. The imprint released a “Hot Steel” compilation this past summer and Kraviz donated 100% of the proceeds from June 19th to the NAACP.

5. Amelie Lens

1. Charlotte De Witte

Achieving yet another career milestone, Charlotte De Witte is named the #1 on the DJ Mag Alternative list. Her extraordinary musical talent has been continually recognized over the past few years as she cultivated the attention of fans and industry professionals alike. Best known for her KNTXT events and imprint, Charlotte De Witte has taken the techno scene by storm.

“It’s probably the strangest year to become No.1 DJ since no one has really been DJing,” she says of her win. “But yeah, it does mean a lot. It’s a big, big, big milestone.”

In a male-dominated industry, it’s extremely refreshing to see female producers getting the recognition they deserve.
