RUSKO MAKES HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED WAKAAN DEBUT WITH ‘SAUCE’ EP – LISTEN
Legendary U.K. dubstep producer Rusko has been sitting on a massive 4-track EP that’s finally been released on Wakaan. Sauce marks Rusko’s debut on Liquid Stranger’s imprint, and represents a pivotal milestone as the artist’s first release of the new decade.
It has been almost a year since Rusko dropped new music, and Sauce is the perfect culmination of the artist’s signature wonky, wobbly sounds. It pays homage to all genres of bass music, including dubstep, drum and bass, and bass house, encompassing Rusko’s many talents. Not to mention, he even enlisted fan favorites, Dirt Monkey and Boogie T. to contribute to tracks on the album.
Christopher Mercer a.k.a. Rusko speaks on the release, “I’m finally thrilled to present 4 slices of brightly coloured dubstep rainbow cake! Fresh out of the oven. I made a lot of music during lockdown, and picked the 4 most fun & shiny wobblers for this exciting debut on Wakaan! Collaborations for me are rare, and getting two of them finished with my two fav producers in the game right now was a dream come true! I hope the energy and hype put into these tracks is transferred straight to your hearts because I can still hear the fresh excitement in all these tunes. Hopefully this is a little ray of rusko sunshine to brighten everyone’s world and the start of more to come. Love you.”
The first track on Sauce, “Carrot Cake” leads in with a steady beat, before bouncy bass-lines take control and morph with high-octane elements. Next up, “Ecstasy Dreamland” is best described simply by its title. It boasts high energy and feelings of nostalgia as a sweet melody lingers throughout.
“Quarantinis” featuring Dirt Monkey is an absolute banger that really dives into dub-reggae and wonky rhythms. The other collaboration, “Wha Gwan” featuring Boogie T. is composed of trippy synths and sporadic vocal pieces.
After performing at the first ever Wakaan Festival in Ozark, Arkansas last year, Rusko’s Sauce EP brings everything full circle. With touring plans put on hold, his next big move is to partake in a virtual performance for Dancing Astronaut and Elements Music & Arts Festival’s ‘U Sexy Beach’ live stream event.
