EXRON EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: DIRTYSNATCHA

U.K. native, DirtySnatcha has been commanding the dubstep scene for over seven years now. His signature sound pays homage to both riddim and trap genres, allowing him to play a distinctive role in the bass music community. Along the way, DirtySnatcha decided to use his platform in a way that could inspire and uplift other artists. In doing so, he developed and now runs his very own label, DirtySnatcha Records.

Earlier this year DirtySnatcha was amid a massive U.S. tour that unfortunately had to be cut short due to quarantine. He still got the chance to hit key venues such as Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory and San Francisco’s DNA Lounge before lockdown.

Upon the release of some exciting new music as well as a warm welcome to Subsidia Records, we got the chance to hear from the legend himself. Check out our exclusive interview with one of dubstep’s OGs!

Exron Music: Becoming a part of Excision’s Subsidia is an exciting milestone. What does this opportunity mean for you personally as well as for your career?

DirtySnatcha: This has definitely been a big confidence boost for me personally as well as in my career. It reminded me that hard work and dedication to doing what you love can get you further than you ever imagined.

Exron Music: How does it feel to be releasing on a label with so many like-minded creatives?

DirtySnatcha: I feel honored to be grouped in with some very talented artists, and it has also has given me the opportunity to discover new talent in the industry.

Exron Music: What brought yourself, Matt Doe, and Katie Sky together for “More Than This”?

DirtySnatcha: Matt and I started working on it together and realized that we needed different vocals to compliment the flow of the track. I heard Katie’s vocals on another track previously and thought to myself, “she is very talented” so it was a no-brainer to reach out to her for this collaboration.

Exron Music: What cities or venues are you most excited to get back to once you can safely tour again?

DirtySnatcha: I’m honestly excited for all of them!

Exron Music: Your newest track “Riddim in a Bottle” has such a dynamic sound. Can you give us any insight as to where the inspiration for this track came from?

DirtySnatcha: My girlfriend was listening to another remix of the track and it got me thinking of all the ways I could flip it to include my signature sound.

Exron Music: Your upcoming EP will be released on your very own DirtySnatcha Records pretty soon. What can fans look forward to hearing on the EP? Any collabs?

DirtySnatcha: No collabs that I can announce just yet, but my fans can look forward to some interesting new sound designs that I’ve been working on.

Exron Music: What’s the best thing about running your own label?

DirtySnatcha: The best thing is that I get to help artists get their music out there and gain exposure to new fans.

Exron Music: What other artists will be releasing on DirtySnatcha Records in the near future?

DirtySnatcha: Subject 31, Contakt, Whiskers, and Shockz all have releases coming out soon!

Exron Music: Do you have any information on upcoming releases or livestreams that you can share with fans at this time?

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
