GEM & TAURI DROP DEBUT EP ON OPHELIA RECORDS – [LISTEN]

Seven Lions’ record label Ophelia Records dropped a special EP last week, the debut compilation of Gem and Tauri, a duo otherwise known as Seven Lions’ beloved wife and girlfriend. Although this is the first EP for these two up-and-coming DJs, they’re no stranger to the scene of dubstep or electronic music in general. Both have been spotted countless times at Seven Lions’ side while vibing to his live sets in the booth.

As the first full-blown house EP on Ophelia Records, this debut is kind of a big deal. Although Ophelia Records usually champions melodic dub, it switched up the tempo with this house compilation. Even though the EP reps that looping cadence so widely affiliated with house music, it also embodies the same sort of sentimentalism, lyricism, and poignancy often associated with Ophelia Records, Seven Lions, and melodic dub. “Call Me Home,” a stand out track on the EP, speaks of the same sort of spellbinding love Seven Lions often narrates in his own music, leading us to believe that this unconventional relationship not only emulates dope music, but also bliss for the three parties involved. Love is love is love is love!

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
