Crystal Skies is known for their melodic dubstep-inspired tracks such as “Never Change” and “Fluorescent Light” featuring KARRA. Although hailing from opposite sides of the country, Britain Holcomb and Aaron Dawson have found a successful common group. The duo has found a unique way to produce music that is heavy but still resonates with the emotions of listeners. The first instance of this magical union was with their track “Paradise Lost” featuring Abigail in 2013. The track almost instantly became a Soundcloud hit, thus kicking off an impressive career in production.

Their 2019 EP Constellations on Ophelia marked another career milestone for these two. It features various artists, including Gallie Fisher who is also a part of Collide. In addition, Crystal Skies has released collaborations with Seven Lions and Au5, while dropping widely popular remixes for Slander’s “Love Is Gone”, Above & Beyond’s “There’s Only You”, Dabin’s “Part Time Lover,” and Illenium’s “All Together”.

Over the summer, Crystal Skies released a heartfelt statement about the killing of George Floyd and systemic racism. In that statement, the pair vowed to donate 100% of their June royalties and doing a “Make A Track In A Day: A Charity Stream For Racial Injustice” on Twitch in which all stream donations along with royalties went toward NAACPLDF and CUAPB. Both organizations support victims of police brutality and racial injustice, while promoting police reform and accountability. The product of that stream, “Lullaby” was released in July.

All of this success and activism has led up to this monstrous release of Collide. Featuring “Collide”, “This Moment” with Gallie Fisher, “Human” with She is Jules, “Requiem”, and “Crash & Burn”, each offers a demonstration of Crystal Skies’ varied abilities and genre bending talents.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
