I_O SIGNS TO ARMADA & DROPS NEW SINGLE “IN MY HEAD” – [LISTEN]

After garnering support from industry frontrunners like deadmau5 and Above & Beyond as well as releasing multiple EPs on mau5trap, i_o will be entering a new phase of his young career. The emerging techno superstar has signed exclusively to Armada Music, kicking it off with his newest single “In My Head”.

The two part track explores a more exotic side of techno that i_o seems to have a firm grip on. Blending melodic and progressive elements of the genre, his signature sound takes shape. If the song sounds familiar, that’s because it was played out during the artist’s EDC Las Vegas Virtual Rave-A-Thon set back in May.

“In My Head” features lyrics that tenderly touch on the reality of depression that i_o and many of his fans face, especially during quarantine. The artist offers his take on the song:

“‘In My Head’ reflects on depression and the lengths you go to quell the warped anxiety and polar ups and downs. I wrote this after I’d been up every night until 8 a.m. for what felt like months. It’d been a while since I’d played a show, and I didn’t realize what kind of high I had been riding until touring stopped abruptly in March 2020. I really wanted to write something uplifting, but the chords got more and more melancholy and the progression got more and more tense. Finally, I was left with a topline that repeated over and over, an ironic rapture that was contrary to the heavy heartedness I was going through.”

Although he has a long history of producing, i_o has become an international sensation over the short course of the past two years. Releasing ACID 444, AM 444, and NRG 444 are just the latest of his vast accomplishments. Perhaps most notably, i_o knows how to effortlessly command a crowd.

To celebrate joining Armada and releasing “In My Head”, i_o will be releasing an exclusive merch drop. Listen two Part I and Part II of the new track below!

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
