The Burning Man Project Needs Your Help

In less than a week’s time, Burners from all over the world will enter the multiverse, attending this year’s Burning Man virtually due to concerns about the corona virus and onsite gathering restrictions. Although 2020 has produced a unique set of problems, the very silicon valley coders and intrepid psychonauts that birthed the burn more than two decades ago have banded together to build an online platform broad enough to host this year’s burn. And although this is an impressive feat of contortion in response to 2020’s curve balls, concerns about next year’s burn are ample.

With location debacles, pandemics, economic depressions, and budget and staff cuts, The Burning Man Project’s finances do not look strong. As a way to mitigate looming realities for future burns, The Burning Man Project launched a microsite dedicated to pursuing donations. The site’s commentary is short and concise, yet poignant. “Our future is up to you. We are depending on the extraordinary generosity of our community to ensure the future of Burning Man. Please give what you can, and share this appeal with your network. Your gift of any size will make a difference.”

For those that have been and/or those that aspire to go, Burning Man’s principles are a guiding light, a beating pulse of hope in ostensibly muddy waters. But don’t take our word for it, see it yourself – after all, seeing is believing.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
