Biscits and MITA Mix British and Brazilian Culture with “Tribalism” – [Listen]

British DJ Biscits collaborated with Brazilian maestro MITA to create the perfect blend of culture with “Tribalism,” a track released via Toolroom Records. The track is also featured on Toolroom House Party Vol. 2, alongside others by artists such as Oliver Heldens, Hot Since 82, Mark Knight, the legendary Carl Cox, and many more. The beat itself is uptempo and persistent, embroiling listeners in a wild jungle jamboree, inspired by Brazilian samba and England’s tech-house grime scene.

According to Biscits, he was first introduced to MITA’s work through videos of the DJ’s live shows in Brazil. “I first got sent a video of MITA playing one of my tracks at a gig in Brazil and I liked what I saw! Then when the guys came over to the UK, they sent me a message and I ended up bringing them along to a gig I had at Brixton Electric and we became good friends!” Although the duo was keen on collaborating, pandemic restrictions nearly precluded their creative process. Despite the travel restrictions, Biscits and MITA made the decision to work together despite the circumstances, collaborating remotely. When speaking on their process, MITA commented, “Working from a long distance was a bit challenging, but we developed the music step by step and we reached a very innovative result.” Ironically, even though “Tribalism” was conceived apart, it forged a bridge, connecting cultures from completely opposite sides of the pond in times of uncertainty, when the world needed it most.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
