Disclosure’s forthcoming album “Energy,” dropping on August 28th of 2020, has fans of the English house duo practically salivating. Despite the sensitive nature of the album release, Disclosure has been liberal with sneak peaks, releasing a slew of teasers over the past couple of months, morsels of a larger concept yet standalone euphonic singles in and of themselves. “Douha (Mali Mali),” featuring Fatoumata Diawara, marks the latest precursory partial album release. After the success of the trio’s initial collaboration back in 2018, which scored both Diawara and Disclosure a Grammy nomination, all parties had been itching to team up once more. The collaboration, titled “Ultimatum,” featured Diawara singing in her native language, celebrating her birthplace and showing Malian pride.

When shooting the music video for “Douha (Mali Mali),” the pandemic occupied everyone’s mind. Director Mahaneela made the best of the travel restrictions and safety regulations, befriending the obstacles, hurdles, and timeline setbacks experienced by the cast and crew. Mahaneela captured Diawara dancing, as well as others, from all over the world, through the ingenuity of the creative team. The video features rural and cityscapes of Como, Italy, Johannesburg, South Africa, New York, and beyond, increasing connectivity despite the challenges of 2020.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
