TWO LANES DROPS STIRRING NEW EP “LIGHTS” ON BITBIRD
Berlin-based DJ siblings TWO LANES just dropped their first EP of 2020, and it’s subtle, enigmatic, and breathtakingly well-produced. After their successful debut on bitbird radio earlier this year with singles “Wide Awake,” “‘Closer,” and “Never Enough,” the duo returns to reveal their new EP, “Lights”. For a quick peek into the group’s history, TWO LANES officially began in 2018 but for brothers, Rafa and Leo, the project had been a long time coming. Leo, an alumna from The Juilliard School, combined his classical training with Rafa’s love of electronic music to create work with precision, purpose, and panache.
“The songs on the EP are all strongly influenced by the impressions and memories we are experiencing here,” comments TWO LANES. “We feel that the surrounding has an immediate impact on our sound, the way we make music, and how we perceive it – and vice versa. Music can also transform the way you experience certain moments or shed light on old memories…” The EP, from a listener’s perspective, is a dive into sensory abstraction. It’s electronic indie music, in all its quirkiness, with a true through-line. The EP crescendos with “Closer,” only to drop us on the doorstep of the unknown with the closing track “Lost.”
