SUWANNEE HULAWEEN BREAKS INEVITABLE NEWS
Suwannee Hulaween is one of the most cherished Florida festivals that sadly won’t be returning in 2020. Although some still had hope, the festival made the official announcement that they’re throwing in the towel after COVID-19 is showing no signs of improvement. For the first time in 8 years, The Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park will be silent over Halloween weekend.
Last year, Hulaween brought huge headliners like CloZee, lots of The String Cheese Incident, Manic Focus, Charlesthefirst, Peekaboo, and STS9 to name a few. This year, they didn’t get as far as releasing a lineup. And fortunately, refunds won’t be an issue since tickets were never put on sale for the event.
The post states, “It has become clear that despite our consistent efforts in tandem with the spirit of Suwannee Music Park to create and maintain a safe onsite environment, the state of Florida is visibly not ready to host the Hulaween we all know and love. Unfortunately, given the information available, we are not comfortable moving forward with the event in 2020.”
On a positive note, the statement does mention that there will be something special online for Hulaween’s original dates, October 29th to November 1st. Whether there will be a livestream event is unclear at this time, but that would definitely help keep the spirit of the beloved festival alive. Organizers of the festival will also be shifting focus toward next year’s edition. For now, fingers crossed for 2021.
