KLOUD + WASIU DROP POLITICALLY CHARGED SINGLE “MATTER” – [LISTEN]
Mysterious DJ, producer, and A.I. character KLOUD along with Nigerian-Haitian hip hop legend Wasiu are getting political in the best way possible. Their brand new track “MATTER” is a justice-seeking single, pledging half of the proceeds to Black Lives Matter charities.
This heavy track makes a bold statement regarding the racial inequalities and injustices surrounding the murder of George Floyd, and NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s kneeling during the national anthem in protest of police brutality and racial inequality. Wasiu’s rap flow on top of KLOUD’s aggressive analogue production fosters a verbal protest that’s quite catchy.
The artists’ overarching message is loud and clear: Black Lives Matter. Powerful lines such as “Jaws dropped, but we still can’t breathe” and “I fucking still can’t respirate” do all of the talking. Appropriately, the BLM charities Color of Change and NAACPLDF are receiving the donations.
KLOUD is an elusive fictional character who is branded by elements of data privacy, artificial intelligence, and robotics. Since breaking out in the scene last summer with his cinematic origin story music video “Exit Alive”, he’s been sparking discussion in the dark techno and house realms. Although we don’t know much about him, we know he’s on the right side of social justice.
Working alongside KLOUD to create this masterpiece, Wasiu yet again finds a home in the electronic scene. His work with Apashe on “Majesty” has also fostered worldwide approval, boasting over 20 million streams, being used in commercials, and played out in League of Legends.
