Ekali Teases Album Release Under New Alias

In the year of canceled festivals and COVID-19, Ekali brings us little blips of joy with both his music and the promise of what’s to come. On June 19th, the DJ took to twitter for the official announcement of a forthcoming album. Although Ekali’s brand and sound are both unique and reputable, he’s experimenting with a separate alias, a side project with a “new name” and “different vibe.”

Ekali first hinted at the dropping of an album back in December of 2019 when he tweeted about a mysterious solo project tailing his “A World Away.”

Ekali is most known for his floaty style, for his looping and light refrains, and for an overall airy quality to his music. It’s ultra recognizable and unequivocally Ekali, so we’re excited to see what this new album and alias brings to the table. Nasty dub or riddim, perhaps? Or maybe a house collaboration with his fiancé Sam Blacky? Only time will tell!

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.

What's your reaction?
