BEN BÖHMER’S “BREATHING” GETS THE REMIX TREATMENT FROM BORIS BREJCHA AND DOMINIK EULBERG – [LISTEN]

Ben Böhmer’s full-length debut ‘Breathing’ LP, released last November, returns to the limelight this new decade with a couple of propelling remixes of the titular track from fellow German techno DJ/producers Boris Brejcha and Dominik Eulberg. The latest batch follows Gui Boratto’s rework of ‘Black Hole’, Tim Green’s reinterpretation of ‘In Memoriam’, and Volen Sentir’s remix of ‘Lost In Mind’.

The original track’s subdued, restrained nature was paired effortlessly in unison with singer/songwriter Malou’s textured vocal elements, fluidly permeating throughout. Lightly propulsive from start-to-finish, Nils Hoffman’s mellowed signature production qualities could also prominently be heard as well.

Upping the anté, famed masked musician Boris Brejcha immediately switches up the tempo with his remix, providing listeners with a quality cerebral take on the original that is unyielding in nature. Sonically intrusive in all the right ways without ever being too overly flashy or in-your-face, Brejcha’s signature driving techno rhythm is the perfect addition to Böhmer’s tune.

Several resounding synths start off Dominik Eulberg’s, slowly making room for his production prowess to truly shine. The vocals are left out, in turn flawlessly highlighting his skills in the studio. Halfway through the approximately five-and-a-half minute runtime, the beat drops and the tension present in much of the first half is washed away in favor of the profoundly rich, driving melody and its atmospheric sonic counterparts.

Out now on Anjunadeep, both tunes are available to listen to on all streaming platforms. To check out more Exron coverage of Boris Brejcha, check out our article on his single ‘To The Moon and Back‘ from this January.
