SHAY DE CASTRO MAKES HER CODEX RECORDINGS LABEL DEBUT WITH 3-TRACK ‘ASSEMBLY’ EP – [LISTEN]
Burgeoning techno maven Shay De Castro returns to the release radar with ‘Assembly’, a tantalizing collection of spellbinding club-ready weapons. The 3-track EP is full of intense, heart-fluttering build-ups and drops, leaving the listener in a heady stupor, wanting even more from the budding musician. All three original productions also serve as Shay De Castro’s Codex Recordings label debut, adding even more greatness to techno stalwart Spartaque’s Barcelona-based imprint.
Kicking off things with the titular track ‘Assembly’, De Castro takes her time crafting an energetic tension that seeps into every nook and cranny of the tune. Featuring her unyielding signature sound, the song is a no-holds-barred sonic tour de force that leaves nothing in its wake. ‘Incendium’ carries with it the same relentless profundity, with stabbing synths, wobbly soundscapes, and sharp basslines populating much of the space in the four-and-a-half minute endeavor. Lastly, ‘She Reigns’ tops off the EP, with a driving rhythm that pulsates throughout the entirety of the offering.
With a wide array of experience already under her belt in the two short years since the U.S.-based performer began her DJ/producer career, things are looking up for Shay De Castro. On a seemingly perpetual upward trajectory, she has released on several highly-revered labels across the globe such as Napoli’s Prospect Records, Amsterdam’s Bitten, and Treviso’s Frequenza Records, as well as played alongside industry titans like Deborah De Luca and Spektre. With new upcoming releases slated for 2020, fans will be eagerly awaiting her next steps.
