DJ CARNAGE STANDS IN SOLIDARITY WITH PROTESTS AGAINST POLICE BRUTALITY

Just as things were starting to suck somewhat less, as the curve flattened and summer hit full swing, 2020’s perpetual Armageddon smited us down once more with the horrific murder of George Floyd. Unbeknownst to us all, corona’s unease, economic devastation, and media fear mongering pressurized our fragile system. After the disbursement of George Floyd’s murder porn, a conduit formed, linking systemic racism and its endogenic pain to corona’s unrest. Protests, some riotous but most peaceful, broke out in cities all across the county and then all across the world. Anguish knotted our bellies but, in an unyielding and awe-inspiring uprising, America pulled up. George Floyd’s murder changed the world in ways unforeseeable, in ways the only history will scribe.

In the wake of this devastation, the electronic music community demonstrated its sensitivity and ability to listen, not just to bops and womps but to what was needed. In a statement released last week, Carnage announced the postponement of his Road Rave “to stand united against racism and police brutality in this country.” And although a rave would have been a much appreciated breath of fresh air, Carnage’s decision to postpone was undoubtedly the right and respectful move.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.

What's your reaction?
