TCHAMI SHARES ENTICING REMIX PACKAGE FOR HIT SINGLE “PROUD” – [LISTEN]
French DJ and founder of independent record label CONFESSIONS, otherwise known as Tchami, is always up to something. He is both prolific, consistently releasing new music, and entrepreneurial, fostering strong bodies of house-centric work within his label. In early May he released the remixes of “Proud” – an EP featuring re-imaginations courtesy of Tchami and various artists such as DOGMA and Daecolm – and it’s a worth a listen.
The original “Proud” was a powerful track in and of itself, but the remixes allow for the song’s essence to continue onward. The baseline of “Proud” continues, but tweaks in each of the remixes extend the thought loop and make it intoxicating, anything but dull. In the Steffan Clay Remix, the fourth track of the EP, a disjunctive tribalism creeps into the beat, almost positioning the listener in a jungle of sorts, as the strings component of the song compels a forceful orchestration. In contrast, the Kohmi Remix implements staccato tickings and womps to give Tchami’s jungle a minimalist and spacey makeover.
