PORTER ROBINSON HOSTS HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL LIVESTREAM & DOMINATES TWITTER TRENDING – [REWATCH]

This past weekend Porter Robinson hosted the livestream equivalent of the second installment of his self-curated event ‘Second Sky Festival’, entitled ‘Secret Sky‘. Porter originally announced the event on May 4th, declaring that the event would feature a collection of his favorite artist and all the proceeds would be going to the musicares COVID-19 relief fund. After announcing the lineup on May 5th, music fans across the globe expressed their excitement in throws.

The artist debuted the festival on Twitch and Youtube, but also created a unique platform for viewing the performances. He produced a ‘virtual space’ where users could interact through manning ‘scribble avatars’ and he even joined the celebration by interacting with his own avatar as well.

Presented by Porter Robinson, Goldenvoice and Brownies and Lemonade, the livestream took place this past Saturday, May 9th and went on all day long, garnering views from thousands across the world. The event also displayed beautiful fan art throughout the extent of the day, bringing to life the extraordinary fandom that Porter Robinson has cultivated in his decade of music.

Throughout the festival there were many stand out performances, including DJ Potaro (Robinson in a giant blue plushie costume) playing a 2010 electro-house set, Shadient dropping fire bass bangers, Madeon taking us through a funky future bass-house journey, and G Jones providing some much needed experimental bass. Twitter was bouncing off the walls as many of the artists hit trending throughout their performances.

During Porter Robinson’s set on Saturday, a whopping 250,000 people were in attendance and the world watched in unison and awe as he performed an emotional and beautifully curated mixture of his new album, his crowd favorites and new music in which he finds current inspiration. Twitter exploded in excitement as he dropped a mash-up of Avril Lavigne’s “I’m With You” and his most classic single “Language”. Listen below:

Porter also debuted a new single, “Look At The Sky”, which many believe will arrive with his new album set to come out any minute.

Perhaps the most coveted moment from the set was when Robinson revealed a song produced by artist Lil B entitled “Porter Robinson“, a rap that literally repeats Porter’s name in an idyllic manner. Fans were euphoric and ecstatic at the respect from Lil B after Robinson has followed the rapper for years.

Secret Sky lifted the spirits of thousands this past weekend, and was a profound moment of unity among the dance music community.
