TOMORROWLAND 2020 HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN CANCELED

We can’t say we weren’t expecting it, but the latest announcement from Tomorrowland surely broke our hearts. The festival takes place annually in Belgium, but unfortunately will not be happening in 2020. Scheduled to take place in July, fears of COVID-19 have pushed Tomorrowland to cancel, following in the footsteps of many other summer events.

Rather than scoping out fall dates for the festival to take place, Tomorrowland has declared their 16th edition to take place in 2021. Given that the event spans over two weekends paired with the lingering uncertainty of the future, this was the best option to move forward with. However, next year’s dates have already been picked, giving fans a glimpse of hope for the future. A recent post to the festival’s Facebook page reads the following.

“With a lot of pain in our hearts, we have to inform you that Tomorrowland cannot take place in 2020. We understand and support the governmental order that has just been issued. The 16th edition of Tomorrowland will take place in the summer of 2021 (July 16–18 and July 23–25).”

As far as purchases made already, all tickets will be transferred to Tomorrowland 2021. There has not been an official statement made about refunds. Whether or not refunds will be available is uncertain. The festival has made the following announcement regarding tickets.

“Anyone who was planning to experience Tomorrowland in July 2020 will now have dozens of questions. That makes perfect sense, and we fully understand. As a general guideline, we can already say that all tickets will be transferred to Tomorrowland 2021.”

Although it seems like the music industry has been plagued with nothing but bad news lately, there’s always a silver lining. Festival season will be back, and we will all cherish those moments a little tighter when we get them again. For now, we can do our part by staying safe, healthy, and hopeful for a brighter future. I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
