Burning Man Delays Main Ticket Sales and Explores 2020 Options

Burning Man, scheduled to take place from August 30th to September 7th of 2020, is feeling the pandemic’s pressure. After deciding to postpone their “Main Sale” due to Coronavirus concerns, Burning Man’s team announced they are considering canceling this year’s burn. In the event of a cancelation, Burning Man’s team assured burners that, although ticket sales are normally non refundable under any and all circumstances, this year’s unforeseeable events warrant redacted rules. However, Burning Man’s team also mentions how difficult it would be for them, financially, to issue mass refunds because they are in fact a year-round, fully-operational non-profit. Burning Man’s team, albeit remorseful, also decided to cancel and/or postpone certain regional events including AfrikaBurn in South Africa, Bequinox in Southern California, Blazing Swan in Australia, Events at Fly Ranch, Crème Brûlée in France, and others.

In the midst of such disaster, Burning Man shares light for all those in need:

“Already, we’ve seen people embodying the 10 Principles by coming together virtually, gifting to those in need, sharing precious resources, and devising new ways to create and celebrate as we collectively hunker down. We have faith in the capacity of the global Burning Man community to thrive and provide essential support to those who need it most.”

And just like Burning Man’s team has faith in us, we have faith in them. Until August, burners.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.

What's your reaction?
