Tekashi 6ix9ine Is Out Of Prison Due to COVID-19 Concerns

Remember Tekashi 6ix9ine? Rainbow mullet? Talented but troubled, cheeky New York riff raff? Just as a refresher, rapper Tekashi was arrested in 2018 for racketeering, weapons, and drug charges. In February of 2019, a year later, he plead guilty to nine felonies, namely conspiracy to murder, armed robbery, and trafficking, all charges associated with the Trey Nine Gangsters of New York City. As a result, Tekashi faced up to 47 years in prison, a three-times-over life sentence. After careful thought, Tekashi decided to abate his sentencing by testifying against his Trey Nine brethren, a decision he knew would forever mar his street credibility but also a decision that reduced his time from 47 years to a mere two.

Miraculously, Tekashi has been given yet another break, this time at the hands of the Coronavirus and his well-payed legal team. Although his prior prison release date was July of 2020, reckoning came early for Tekashi due to concerns regarding the Coronavirus, his asthma, and to quote, “a raging and virulent pandemic that has entered federal prisons in New York City.” Prosecutors did not oppose U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer’s initiative to free 6ix9ine, although awkwardly, Tekashi was serving his reduced two-year prison sentence in a private jail due to his ongoing cooperation with prosecutors. 6ix9ine will serve the remaining four months of his sentence in confinement and is only allowed to see medical professionals and his legal team.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
