Rolling Loud 2020 is Now Postponed to 2021

Another one bites the dust and this time it’s none other than Rolling Loud, south Florida’s edition. In a statement on instagram, which has become the music industry’s number one method of communication (e.g. rave-a-thons, livestreams, official-festival statements, etc.), Rolling Loud announced its postponement of this year’s event, citing new dates in February of 2021.

Although this was to be expected as COVID-19 ramps up across America, it’s important to note that Rolling Loud was one of the last up-coming festivals to issue an official postponement announcement – many festivals had already issued statements of postponed, or even cancelation, indicating fall 2020 dates. For example, Coachella was one of the first major festivals to postpone its event, selecting dates in October of 2020.

However as fears of Coronavirus metastasize, might it be possible to consider October too hasty of a selection? EDC Las Vegas has yet to provide concrete postponement dates to fans, despite mounting inquires. Pasquale Rotella, Insomniac’s founder and CEO, issued a statement on his instagram saying “… we don’t want to make a premature decision on moving the EDC date – or worse, picking the wrong postponement date.” Could Rolling Loud’s postponement to 2021 be an overly cautious attempt to steer completely clear of all COVID-19 threats? Possibly. EDC Las Vegas’ decision regarding its postponement will provide a stronger indication of industry sentiments regarding an anticipated timeline of this pandemic. In the meanwhile, patiently we wait, we hope, and we stay home.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
