Ten years since the release of his first concept album, Wehbba returns with a full-length album, Straight Lines and Sharp Corners. Wehbba enlists talents like Thomas Gandey, David Carretta, and L_Cio to showcase his introspective message. It begins with a harmonious introduction, “Prelude: Goya” which sets the tone for the continuation of the album. Halfway through, “Brainflex: Interlude” grounds us as we prepare to embark on the final journey.

Tracks like “Deluge”, “Dove Rush” and “Residual Self” probe euphoric and passionate elements of techno. While songs such as “Hyper Real Decadence”, “No Sleep”, and “Sharpshooter” dive into the more dark and mysterious corner of the genre. Altogether, the body of work fosters a mesmeric atmosphere that latches onto you and pulls you in.

What really makes Straight Lines and Sharp Corners stand out are the personal touches behind the noise. For example, “No Sleep” reflects the restless lifestyle Wehbba faces during a grueling tour schedule. “Residual Self” communicates his self-discovery as an artist, honing in on his nostalgic days as a raver. Listeners can certainly resonate with “Digital Sunset”, a metaphor that parallels the overwhelming sense of contentment felt while witnessing the sunrise after a rapturous club experience.

The release of Straight Lines and Sharp Corners sharpens Wehbba’s relevance in an ever-changing music scene. It demonstrates his growth as a creator, especially when juxtaposed with his two previous albums. Listeners can easily respect someone who erects music from the soul, rather than outside influences.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
