MOST ANTICIPATED SETS OF ULTRA PHASE 2 LINEUP
Ultra Music Festival is having itself a week. The City of Miami finalized its contract, locking in Bayfront as Ultra’s official 2020 home. Just as news of the victory broke, hurrahs and hoopla were interrupted by the dropping of Ultra’s Phase 2 Lineup. Although the highly-anticipated Resistance Lineup was a hard announcement to top, Ultra done did it. The Phase 2 Lineup included, but was not limited to, performances by Flume, Major Lazer, Jauz B2B NGHTMRE, Malaa B2B DJ Snake, Eric Prydz, FISHER, SLANDER B2B Kayzo, Subtronics, and so many more (see the full list below). Legendary vet Carl Cox will also be celebrating his 20-year-mark at Ultra, performing live at his RESISTANCE Megastructure stage for three days straight, mainly to a sea of zealous, wide-eyed Europeans. In addition to Carl Cox, Armin van Buuren will celebrate his 10th consecutive year with the festival, a major milestone for the star performer.
Yet with a lineup so vast, which performances are we most excited to see? Let’s list the top three:
In 2019, Malaa and DJ Snake released “Made In France,” a house bop on Snake’s “Carte Blanche” album. The duo also shared the stage together at select abroad venues/festivals in promotion of Snake’s album. And with Tchami on site, Malaa’s former tour buddy, it’s not far-fetched to imagine, pardon our French, a cameo appearance and potential Parisian takeover.
Eric Prydz is an artist to watch. Although most American venues are too large or impersonal to adequately immerse audiences in Prydz’s infamous 3D visuals, Ultra will most likely station him at a smaller venue where he can truly shine. For those unfamiliar with the Swedish DJ, Prydz’s visuals have revolutionized festival optics and redefined artistic standards in the industry.
Major Lazer, beloved for their island vibes and high-quality production, mainly release music so the promise of a live set, especially at a festival like Ultra, is tantalizing to say the least. With the launching of Diplo’s newest project Higher Ground, a house-centric sister label to Mad Decent, this Major Lazer Ultra 2020 set might feature trippy house flavors – and, if so, we’re about it.
This list could go on and on, riding off into a sunset of happily ever after. Rather than get wordy, listing talent after talent, let’s all just cop a ticket. It’s a full send, fellow Ultranauts.
