Exron Music: We are so excited for the drop of your new EP, ‘Caviar Chronicles Vol. 1’. Can you tell us where the inspiration for this project grew from?

Black Caviar: We had been working on these songs little by little over the past 3-4 years or so. We thought to finish and bundle them up for something to drop beginning of 2020. We wanted to just self release and slide them out, no big deal… but the reaction to them was better than we had expected. So we were like, ok I guess we should try making this a real thing.

Exron Music: What’s your favorite song on the new EP? Why that one?

Black Caviar: I would probably say Glory Box. Portishead was one of my favorite bands growing up. It was fun to take a down-tempo trip-hop song and make it into a club banger… And the lyrics resonate deeply because it’s something we both have struggled with our entire lives.

Exron Music: You guys released your lead single “Mr. Vain” ahead of the EP, A classic 90’s club banger from Culture Beat with a contemporary twist. Why did you choose to give this old school tune a refresh?

Black Caviar: The original idea of Black Caviar was to just re-make classic dance songs with an updated sound. Our first 2 releases were covers and then we sort of moved away from that and started writing our own songs… but there is something fun about taking a classic song and putting your own twist on it. “Mr. Vain” was a song that we both loved and thought we could update nice. We were surprised that really no one had tried it before so we decided to step up and give it a swing.

Exron Music: What aspects or personal touches to your music would you say is unique to each of you to create your signature dance sound?

Black Caviar: I think one of the most important parts of our music is making sure it’s exciting rhythmically, We are always trying to get the beat to bounce and groove right. We try to write as if you can take the vocal out and the music still remains interesting. That’s what we strive to accomplish, you can be the judge if it’s executed properly or not.

Exron Music: In the first half of 2019 you spent a lot of time touring with Loud Luxury on his “Nights Like This” tour and then proceeded to release a total of 18 tracks by the end of the year. What has been the most rewarding moment thus far?

Black Caviar: I’d probably say Will Smith saying on a French TV show that our song “Coco” was one of his favorites to dance to.. and also being nominated for a Grammy was pretty cool.

Exron Music: As I understand, your music career journey has been a 180 from your old 9-5 lifestyle. After a complete change of scenery, how has your relationship evolved over the course of your music journey?

Black Caviar: I guess just realizing that as good as friends as we are, and have been for close to 20 years now, we are officially stuck together like a married couple.

Exron Music: In a previous interview, you mentioned having other interests in things like magic and stand-up comedy. With the turn of the decade, can we expect an upcoming Black Caviar multi-faceted experience this year?

Black Caviar: The goal for Black Caviar in 2020 is to turn the live show into an experience for the whole family…. while you wait in line to see us we want to have a bouncy castle, skee-ball and face painting in the parking lot… you come in and dance, see some comedy, see some magic and leave with a smile. That’s the Black Caviar way for the new decade.
