EXRON END OF THE YEAR: TOP FIVE BREAKTHROUGH DUBSTEP ARTISTS OF 2019

Dubstep has made huge waves this year and we can only expect it to grow with the turn of the decade. In 2019 we have seen the intersection of genres, the rise of new artists, and gave way for older artists to finally shine. Exron Music has compiled a list of the top 5 breakthrough dubstep artists of 2019 that we look forward to seeing more in the new year.

5. ATLiens

The masked duo, ATLiens, have invaded the scene with their mysterious identities and sick sound. These two hide their faces and never speak on the mic to curate an experience solely based on their music. Their second EP “Ghost Planet” saw so much support that they released another album featuring 29 tracks remixed by other artists. Popping up on lineups across the country, we can only wonder who are the masterminds behind the masks?

4. NGHTMRE

This year we applaud NGHTMRE for his versatility to collaborate outside of electronic music. With his iconic releases of “Redlight” featuring A$AP Ferg and “CASH COW” featuring Gunna, NGHTMRE creates a crossroads of genres like we’ve never seen before. For Coachella 2019, he played a closing set against Ariana Grande that still saw over 40,000 people with special guests, Lil Jon and A$AP Ferg. We see you NGHTMRE, and we can only hope for more crossover collaborations next year!

3. Wooli

Wooli has broken his way into the spotlight this year with slew of releases in 2019 including: “Island” with Seven Lions, Trivecta (feat. Nevve), “Psyclone”, “Lockdown” with Excision, “Nothing Left” with William Black (feat. Runn), “Over You” (feat. Lena Leon) and “Snailephant VIP” just to name a few! With his ability to create and mix melodic to heavy tunes, he has seen support from big artists especially from dubstep OG Excision in their “Evolution” EP together. Amongst his own releases, Wooli’s talent spans further in creating beloved remixes like Zomboy’s track “Born to Survive” and Kayzo’s song “Cruel Love”. What can he not do? Our hats are off to you Wooli.

2. Svdden Death

In 2019, Svdden Death has climbed his way from blazing hot mid-day time slots to becoming a headliner of major lineups. Svdden Death’s VOYD production is bigger than ever curating a totally immersive experience with his dark and demonic style. First born in 2018, VOYD has since taken off and gained major popularity with his VOYD 1.5 release this year. Svdden Death also surprised his fans this year with a huge Marshmello collaboration in “Sell Out”. Will there be more artist collabs in 2020? We can’t wait to see what’s next.

1. Subtronics

Subtronics is no stranger to the game, but in 2019 made his mark with his funky Griz collaboration in “Griztronics”. One of the most used songs on social platform Tik Tok, it appears that almost every DJ has also remixed their own spin in one fashion or another. Though his roll didn’t stop there, this year Subtronics has released a plethora of music with tons of huge artists like Zeds Dead, Ganja White Night, Kayzo, Midnight Tyrannosaurus, Snails and Rusko. Can we expect Cyclops Records in the future? Only time will tell.

An Atlanta gal chasing her love for electronic dance music. I’ve been with Exron since 2018 and have the privilege of contributing to the culture alongside other badass women whom I now call my friends. My introduction to the scene was first influenced by trap music, but my discography has since expanded to touch a bit of everything. Some of my favorite artists are Zeds Dead, Cloonee, Nghtmre, Flume, Infekt, Sosa, Bleu Clair, Subtronics, but the list goes on forever.
