EXRON END OF THE YEAR: ARTISTS TO WATCH IN 2020

The year 2019 wraps up a decade of incredible advances in electronic music. Over the course of the past decade electronic music has soared to new heights and saw numerous blossoming producers reach highs in their career. As we look forward to a new decade of music, we also look forward to new emerging talent in the industry. Exron Music has compiled a list of ten promising producers that we look forward to watching grow in the new year and beyond.

*list is in no particular order*

1. Subtronics

Subtronics had a wildly impressive year in 2019. The American dubstep producer released a handful of his own original music in 2019, including two full EPs: Wooked on Tronics and Cyclops Army. In addition to his original music, he saw numerous collaborations with big names in the industry including Kayzo, Rusko and Griz for the creation of Griztronics. Building so much momentum in 2019, he has positioned himself to continue the trend in the new decade.

 

2. Blond:ish

Formerly a duo, Vivie-Ann Bakos lead Blond:ish in a fresh new direction this past year.  After the creation of the ABRACADABRA label in 2018, Blond:ish picked up steam that carried well into 2019.  This year saw collaborations with industry figurehead Diplo on ‘Give Dem’ as well as curating a remix for ‘Samba Sujo’ from Born Dirty and Diplo. She made her debut at the infamous Coachella and received high praise. In addition to her musical prowess, she lent a hand in the creation of a mini documentary for her Bye Bye Plastic Campaign. The campaign is centered around efforts to eliminate single-use plastic by 2025. The future of Blond:ish in 2020 looks extremely promising in all facets she takes on. 

3. SIDEPIECE

Party Favor and Nitti Gritti joined forces this year to create the house ladden project SIDEPIECE.  Their debut track ‘Wanna See You’ was released on Insomniac Records IN / ROTATION imprint. The duo had their debut show at the Mad Decent presents: Higher Ground showcase at Brooklyn Mirage in September. They also collaborated with Diplo on recent track ‘On My Mind’.  We can only hope for more releases from the collaborative project in 2020. 


 

4. Wax Motif

2019 was an unforgettable year for Wax Motif with the creation of his own imprint Divided Souls Records.  To kick off the debut of his record label he released a gigantic collaboration with rap legend Diddy also entitled ‘Divided Souls’. He appeared across the globe for show and festival stops throughout the duration of the year. 2020 looks extremely promising for the Australian producer with upcoming plans to release an album and continuing to expand his new record label. 


 

5. Enamour

Enamour has been building steam in 2019 with releases on Lane 8’s This Never Happened and Anjunadeep. He has built quite the fan base touring across North America and other parts of the world over the course of the last two years.  Enamour put out multiple notable releases this year including ‘Heart Strings’, ‘Run Away’, ‘Love Syndrome’ and ‘Catalyst’. Rounding out the year he supported Nora En Pure at her Brooklyn show this past weekend and has some performances lined up in the US for NYE and NYD. Taking the electronic music industry by storm in 2019, we expect Enamour to continue to be a blossoming force in 2020. 


 

6. Apashe

Kannibalen Records mainstay Apashe has been making waves in the bass community for some time now. His edgy and classically inspired bass tracks are exclusively unique to Apashe and something the industry needs more of.  In early 2019 he released the three track The Good The Bad & The Fake EP which amassed an impressive amount of play across platforms. His recent release ‘Distance’ proceeds his forthcoming Renaissance EP, set to be released in early 2020.

 

7. MitiS

Ophelia Records mainstay MitiS saw a massive year in 2019. The release of his Shattered EP was well received amongst the melodic bass community, amassing thousands of plays across digital streaming platforms. He spent the majority of the year supporting Seven Lions on tour as well as headlining countless shows of his own. Looking forward to 2020 we can only see more welcomed success for this burgeoning producer.

8. LICK

LA based producer LICK had quite the establishing year in 2019. Putting out a number of remixes, originals and even a collaboration with legendary trio The Glitch Mob has distinguished LICK as a producer to watch in the upcoming decade. He curated remixes for Seven Lions’ ‘Lose Myself’, Kiiara’s ‘Feels’ and GTA’s ‘Red Lips’.  In addition to these powerful remixes he released Dimension EP on Deadbeats and more recently the Dark Vibe Order EP. We are excited for new music from LICK in 2020.

 

9. Codeko

UK native Codeko has received tons of support from industry leaders over the course of the past few years.  He has made tour appearances with Matoma + Two Friends in 2018 and Audien in 2019. Appearing on multiple festival line ups, the DJ/producer continues to establish himself as an artist to watch. 2019 saw the release of a few original tracks including most recent track ‘Sweater’ featuring Stela Cole.  In addition to his originals he curated a remix for Oliver Heldens’ track ‘This Groove’ which has amassed over 80k plays on SoundCloud alone. We are excited to continue to watch Codeko expand his sound and career in the coming decade.

1o. Crystal Skies

Rounding out our list is another pair of artists from Ophelia Records, Crystal Skies. Their highly anticipated Constellations EP has received high praise since the release last month.  In addition to appearing on a few Ophelia Records Showcase line ups, Crystal Skies has also supported and headlined numerous shows of their own this past year.  The melodic bass Constellations is a compilation of soul awakening tracks that we can’t get enough of.
