MIAMI CROWD BLESSED BY PAPAYA AT OTTO AND YHETI SHOW- WATCH HERE

Art Basel breathes life into Miami every December. As the 2019 version unfolded, Yheti, Otto, and Goldie took the stage at Gramps in Wynwood. Given the event’s name Beats, Bass & Art, the show went beyond your typical musical escapade.

The outdoor patio at Gramps perfectly complemented the chilly weather that blanketed Miami this past Thursday evening. The venue hosted a wealth of live painters who had work for sale. From posters, to pins, to small prints, there was plenty of reasonably priced artwork to be admired and bought.

As the visual artists got into their groove, some pretty talented DJs took the stage. Although I had never witnessed an Otto Von Schirach set until now, I had been humorously warned about what I was getting myself into. Otto and his crew took the stage dressed in eccentric costumes and nothing but good vibes.

The performance was complete with plenty of shoutouts to the Trifinity, who Otto is currently finishing up the Grand Awakening Tour with. However, the papaya that was blessed on stage by Otto may have just stole the show.

After a very warm introduction, Yheti finally took the stage. As expected, the artist dove pretty deep down into the realms of weird bass music. He played out multiple fan favorites, including his famous ‘Crack the Window Refix’. As the set gained momentum, Yheti cranked out some very unearthly sounds through the PK speakers. Packed with daring collabs and mysterious IDs, there was no telling what he’d play next.

The venue filled out as temperatures dropped, making it the ideal atmosphere for legendary DJ Goldie to take the stage. Bringing his signature drum and bass style to this cozy little bar in Wynwood, the crowd was not ready for what he had prepared. Goldie delivered insane energy levels to ring in the start of magical weekend in Miami.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!

What's your reaction?
