G JONES UNVEILS DREAMLIKE EP ‘TANGENTIAL ZONES’- LISTEN HERE

After releasing his widely popular debut EP The Ineffable Truth, G Jones began teasing the release of an epilogue to the sound sequence. Out now on his own Illusory Records, Tangential Zones picks up right where its predecessor left off—in the midst of a twisty fantasy.

Although Tangential Zones exists in a shadowy abyss of sound, it is not void of luminosity. Each of the five tracks move through areas marked by both radiance and blackness. It is dark and hollow and filled with echoes, but still allows light to leak in to keep it warm. I’d imagine that Tangential Zones lives in a permanent state of twilight, where it draws its energy from the moonlight rather than the sun.

Fans will recognize the two tracks, ‘Dark Artifact’ and ‘Drift (Acid Mix)’ which have already been revealed as singles. The former explores what you might consider to be the nightmare that always slithers its way in between your dreams. Its basslines are aggressive, piercing and have quite the punch to them. ‘Dream Fatigue’ seems to do something similar as it incorporates fierce drums and bouncy glitches. However, ‘Drift (Acid Mix)’ probes the opposite end of the spectrum. It explodes with a heavenly glow, while still paying homage to the hypnotic essence of the collection.

Since it’s the first song on the EP, ‘Immortal Light’ is really what introduces Tangential Zones. It is here where a familiar melody is reflected from the beloved ‘That Look In Your Eye’. Meanwhile, ‘See Right Through’ also takes us through friendly waters where it boasts a celestial harmony.

After this, we cannot doubt G Jones’ hypnosis capabilities. Tangential Zones has rounded off a remarkable body of work that is nothing short of a masterpiece. The core of this creation really is just a firm grasp of balance, composed of equal parts sentiment and bass.

G Jones fans aren’t the only ones who continually praise his triumphs. He has received support from legendary artists as well as contemporary names in music. Porter Robinson even called The Ineffable Truth one of his favorite albums of 2018.

I've been a part of the dance music scene for nearly a decade and with Exron for more than half of that time. My first event was Diplo's Mad Decent but these days you'll find me at Club Space or the Brooklyn Mirage. Some of my top artists are G Jones, Tipper, Of The Trees, and CharlestheFirst. My favorite genres are techno, experimental bass, and ambient but I'll get down to anything with a beat!
