APASHE TEASES FORTHCOMING EP WITH “DISTANCE”
Montreal-based producer Apashe introduces “Distance” featuring Geoffroy, the first single on his forthcoming Renaissance LP. Out now on Kannibalen Records, the track weaves together classical instrumentation with future bass attributes to create an uplifting melody.
As “Distance” leads in with a soft hum and touching vocals, tension is carefully built. Apashe then adds layers of what he recorded from a real orchestra to create an angelic momentum throughout the track. The first drop is almost heavenly, heightening every single one of our senses. Not to mention, sharp pauses are strategically placed to keep us on edge, even eager for each impending note.
This track sets high standards for the entirety of the Renaissance LP which will drop in 2020. “Distance” creates a rather godly atmosphere, hearing the tune played out on stage would make for an ethereal experience. Fusing together elements of R&B, classical and electronic music is not an easy task. Apashe proves that he’s cut out for the challenge, as he’s a veteran when it comes to pushing the boundaries of sound.
Apashe has recently been featured on Ganja White Night’s album The One as they teamed up for “Flute Chillum”. Plus, since signing to Kannibalen in 2011, his releases have commonly synthesized genres quite effortlessly. His music has received over 125 million streams worldwide, not to mention the features he’s had on countless commercials for popular brands like Adidas and NBA.
The artist offers his own take on the track, “This song came to life at my friend Gab Gagnon’s studio called Homy. We’ve wanted to make music together for ages. We messed around for a day then suddenly got these chords that really hooked us. Later on, I sent him a track using these chords and we instantly felt the potential. I figured it would be sick to have it played by the orchestra in Prague that was planned for my album. From there, it became this strange classical hybrid song. Gab thought Geoffroy would be a great fit and I couldn’t agree more. Took some time to make it happen in between tours but we finally made it and considering the love we felt for the song we decided to make it the first single.”
While we patiently await his Renaissance LP, enjoy Apashe’s ‘Distance’ featuring Geoffroy.
