Meduza Receives Grammy Nomination for “Piece of your Heart”

At the 2020 Grammy Awards, scheduled for January 26th in Los Angeles, California, Meduza will compete in the category “Best Dance Recording” for their smash hit “Piece of Your Heart.” The single went multi-platinum, shortly after its release, before plateauing at gold-worldwide. Currently, it has over a billion streams. Despite the success, Italian-production-trio Meduza still have their work cut out for them. With heavy hitters like Bonobo, The Chemical Brothers, Rufus Du Soul and Skrillex & Boys Noize also nominated in the category, the competition is tight. However, few can deny the hype over this particular song.

“Piece of Your Heart,” in an ironic combination, mixes poignancy with infectious energy. The beat of the song is undeniably catchy, yet the lyrics ride a different wavelength. With statements like, “show me a piece of you, show me a part of you… and if it’s physical keep it subliminal…” the song breaks bread with prose, creating some serious food for thought.

In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
