Let Go With Wax Motif and Matroda’s “Lose Control”- Listen Here

Matroda and Wax Motif

Bass-bangers Wax Motif, a born and bred Aussie, and Matroda, Croatian DJ supastar extraordinaire, recently collaborated for Wax’s label Divided Souls Records. The two peas in a pod dropped some beep bop madness on November 22nd, a sampling of Missy Elliot’s iconic “Lose Control.” Elliot’s famous line “music makes you lose control” echoes hypnotically, back and forth, while space lasers sound off in a techno-house battle. The track blends both of the artist’s styles, but Matroda’s trademark quirkiness particularly stands out.

Matroda’s tracks often incorporate buzzes, scuffs, zips, zaps, and other sounds that wouldn’t be considered traditional. His style might come off as eclectic but this is what makes his production style so unique. As the racetrack of techno goes ‘round and ‘round, the oddities in his music transform into something expected, appreciated, and then craved live a guilty pleasure. Matroda’s peculiarities attract the attention, but Wax Motif’s flow – underground, urban, and provocative – complexifies the dynamics, complementing Matroda’s quirks in all those right/wrong ways.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.
