i_o DROPS PART ONE OF HIS NEW ALBUM- “ACID 444”

For those unfamiliar with i_o, he’s an artist to watch. Not only is the USA-based DJ, formally known as Garrett Lockhart, signed with Mau5trap Records (a label known for cultivating EDM star power as seen with Rezz, Excision, Skrillex, etc.), but he’s also prolific and brand specific. In 2019 alone, i_o played at Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, Creamfields, and Electric Zoo, all while releasing new music with his trademark sound.

On November 22nd, i_o dropped the first part of his album trifecta. Part one of three, cheekily titled “ACID 444,” features album artwork true to i_o’s brand. A distorted – not smiley, rather deadpan – face looms over a black void. Perhaps the eye is malformed, perhaps it’s winking – the conclusion is in the eye the beholder. This EP artwork acts as an appetizer to the four tracks featured, preparing the listener’s palate for the techno-house nastiness to come.

Reminiscent of “The Matrix,” the EP features quick-tempo beats and technology-inspired titles like “System Error.” Taking on the format of true techno-house, the refrain is the chorus, the chorus is the refrain, and both are never-ending. “ACID 444,” in its edgy madness, isn’t just the pulse to an underground rave, rather it’s the rumination too.

Heralding from sunny South Florida, I am a proud Florida Woman. In my free time, I surf the swamp, wrangle gators, open fan mail, and tend to my pets. In the wild, I'm most often spotted at immersive art spaces, step tappin' in a shadowed corner of the club, hater blockerz on, totally incognito as your resident EDM spice girl. Although I generally tout my spicy side, if there's one thing I'd love to impress upon the world, it would be this: it's not a waste to give love to those who do not deserve it – it's a gift. The world would be a better place if we gave, in kindness and in mercy, to those who need it most with no expectation in return.

What's your reaction?
