EXRON EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: SACHI

New Zealand duo, SACHI, is taking the future bass world by storm with several chart topping singles and a stacked fall and winter tour schedule. With a highly impressive live performance set and incredibly unique music production style, SACHI is a duo you are going to want to start following. Exron Music: Tell us a little bit about your journey with music and the creation of the SACHI project.

 

SACHI: It’s been a fun one! We’ve been making music together since we were eight years old, so it’s always been natural for us. We just enjoy the process of creating. 

 

Exron Music: How do you think the music scene in New Zealand shaped you both as artists while growing up?

 

SACHI: Geographically, New Zealand is a very isolated country which means that we kind of have a skewed perception of what’s going on in the outside world culturally. It’s a very small music scene due to the population, even smaller in electronic music, so we have a core group of peers and everyone is friends and really supportive of each other. 

 

Exron Music: Two of your singles have hit gold, “No More” and “Shelter”. What is it about these tracks that you think so many find enjoyable?

 

SACHI: Often the simplest and most refined ideas are the best ideas. No More and Shelter are perfect examples of that, I think. They just felt right when we were making them – the energy was apparent early on when we were making them, they are both sort of ear worms that are fun to dance to. 

Exron Music: How did it feel to have the remix you did for Lorde’s “Green Light” hand selected by her to be officially released?

 

SACHI: It was crazy! Montell2099 (who we did the remix with) and us just started making it off a DIY acapella, mucking around with sounds and ideas joking about ‘imagine if this came out’ so it was crazy when it did. I remember she tweeted out how much she loved it and we were all running around the room lol.

Exron Music: Your most recent release “Sparking My Fire” has reached over 5.6 million streams. What was the inspiration in creating this single?

 

SACHI: When we made it we knew it had a special feeling – it’s hard to put a finger on it. Some songs almost feel like they have an emotion attached to it. With Sparking My Fire we just wanted something that was going to make

people happy and dance.

Exron Music: You’ve recently relocated to Los Angeles to pursue music further. How was this move and do you find it to have been the right choice career-wise?

 

SACHI: It’s been great! Took us a while to get used to the cheese being orange! But we love it here. It’s been amazing meeting new people everyday and getting into the scene over here. Exron Music: You just wrapped up being on tour with Phantoms this fall and have just announced that you will be head back out on tour back in your native part of the world in December. What is your favorite part of touring with your live sets?

 

SACHI: Shows are definitely the best part of being a musician – there’s something about playing to a crowd of people singing your songs which is an incomparable high.
